The London Fire and Civil Defence Authority (LFCDA) has responsibility for the capital's
fire service and for emergency planning functions and employs just over 7,200 staff, some 5,900
of whom are operational firefighters and officers.

The London Fire Brigade exists to protect people and property from fire within
the 1587 square kilometres of 620 square miles of Greater London (the same size of Bangkok, Thailand).
This is done through 113 fire stations and one river station sited strategically
throughout the area and staffed every day of the year.
